【1-Day Pass】For Most Provinces, Municipalities and Regions Across China, the Metro Is Still a Relatively New Thing (EN Premium)

$22.80

In the global landscape of urban rail transit, China’s metro systems can be considered a latecomer. Although the history of metro development in China dates back to Beijing in the mid-20th century, it was not until the 21st century that metros gradually became widespread and turned into a common mode of daily transport for people in many cities. Today, only a small number of provincial-level administrative regions in China have yet to open any metro lines.

Academia Centrum has created a data map that uses colour to illustrate the order in which provincial-level regions across China opened their first metro lines. It also indicates the exact year each line officially began passenger operations. This helps you understand the development of this green mode of transport in China and offers insight into the shifting patterns of regional development.

The premium version offers you the following benefits:

1) Access to the data sources.

2) The exact year when the first metro line in each province, municipality and region officially began passenger operations (where applicable).

3) More detailed commentary than the free version, allowing for a deeper understanding of the topic.

描述

For many major cities in China, the metro is no longer an unfamiliar form of urban infrastructure. Apart from coastal provinces such as Zhejiang, Shandong and Liaoning, numerous provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in central and western China have built metro systems. More than 40 cities across the country now have metros, with the total network length surging from 2,064 kilometres in 2012 to the highest in the world. Even cities as far afield as Urumqi in Xinjiang, Hohhot in Inner Mongolia and Lanzhou in Gansu are no longer “off-limits” to metro development. However, the period of rapid metro expansion into central and western cities is actually a very recent phenomenon. So which province, municipality or region has been the latest beneficiary of this latest wave of metro development?

Purchasing this product will automatically grant you a one-day pass, allowing unlimited access to view the data map titled “For Most Provinces, Municipalities and Regions in China, the Metro Is Still a Relatively Thing” within a day. The map includes one data visualisation with English commentary.

This data map is for the purchaser’s personal use only, in accordance with the rules set by Academia Centrum.
